About who we are

Children’s Day Montessori (CDM) is an independent, non-profit Montessori preschool that provides a unique educational and social environment for children ages 3 – 6.  CDM began in 1982, when the school emerged in the Saint Cloud community known as Learning Day Montessori.  In 1990, in response to great interest and growth, the school became Children’s Day Montessori, a non-profit organization directed by a volunteer Board of parents and staff.

Children’s Day Montessori exists to create a safe, nurturing environment where children (ages 3-6) develop and flourish as learners respectful of themselves and others, and the global communities in which we live.   Parents, teachers and staff collaborate to maintain a flexible yet stable environment in which Montessori principles are practiced.

CDM is affiliated with the American Montessori Society and offers preschool Montessori education in three separate communities all taught by certified Montessori teachers.

The mission of CDM is to provide an enriching and challenging setting where children aged 3 to 6 can begin to develop to their full potential academically, emotionally and socially in a safe, supportive and diverse learning environment.

It works and I’m thankful for my children’s experience. All three of my children attended CDM for the full 3 years.  They express fond memories and have grown into their potential with help from Montessori teachers and methods.  Thank you!

Todd and Lisa Severnak

The growth we have seen in our daughter both emotionally and academically just blows us away. She is so confident and eager to learn. We were confident she would learn and grow but she has far exceeded our expectations.

The Montessori experience has opened my eyes to the enormous ability children have to learn. They are exposed to so many things I would not have imagined them capable of comprehending. Montessori has taught me to never under estimate the ability of a child to learn.

Jennifer and Adam Couzens

As parents, it has been exhilarating to witness our children become passionate, self-directed learners as well as confident little people through their involvement with CDM. What an awesome foundation for their development!

Anthony & Beth Fenstad

As parents we all want the best for our kids. We strongly feel Montessori is able to address the needs of each individual learner while fostering a lifelong love of learning. The early school years can be critical to a positive start in education; Montessori’s class size, curriculum and devoted staff have given our kids a terrific opportunity for continued success in school.

Mike and Megan Searcy

Both of our daughters attended and graduated from CDM.  We couldn’t be more pleased with the foundation that the program at CDM laid for our children, both academically and socially.  Now in first and fourth grade, our daughters are thriving in the public school system.  Their abilities to work independently can be tied to the classroom time at CDM where they were encouraged to practice their “work” or activities on their own.  Conversely, their ability to work in groups and the necessary skills they employ when they share, take turns and work out problems at school are skills that were practiced during their time at CDM.  Thank you CDM for laying a brilliant foundation for our daughters’ education.  Their inquisitive personalities, love for learning and empathy towards their peers can be attributed to your teaching!

Carrie Karki & Family

We have 4 kids and each of our kids have attended CDM. Our current 3-year-old has the same teacher as my now, 19-year-old in college had; we think that’s pretty special. CDM has been a great school for our children’s beginnings. There are many nurturing teachers and the school offers many flexible scheduling options, that has been a valuable benefit to us.

Jill Stuber and Family

CDM positioned our boys cognitively, socially and emotionally to be ready for school, and life!  The principles and values at CDM align with our family values providing reinforcement on a daily basis at both home and school for our boys.   That is important at a time they are exploring new things, interacting with new people, and establishing behavior patterns.   I can’t think of a better place for development.

Lexy and Tom St. Hilaire and family

Even though our children are now 6th and 4th graders, we still credit CDM for providing our children a strong foundation for success.  The Montessori teaching style allowed them to be continually challenged and explore their academic strengths.

By having our children attend CDM through kindergarten, they seamlessly transitioned into a traditional classroom and stepped right into a leadership role.  CDM truly gave them wings to be academic leaders and for that we are truly grateful!

After attending CDM, my two daughters were not only academically well-prepared for elementary school, they were also excited and engaged in their own learning. I have been so impressed by how much ownership they take over their work in school and at home, and I know that’s due to their time and learning at CDM. I am so thankful for the wonderful teachers and staff and what a wonderful gift they gave our family by creating such enthusiasm and love for learning in our daughters!

Becky Bastien & Family

The Montessori education that my children have received from Children’s Day has left them so much more prepared for kindergarten than the vast majority of their peers. Both of my daughters have attended CDM for 3 years and they have blossomed into confident, independent and motivated students of life.

Jessica Rowen & Family

Montessori was such a great experience for our family. It gave our kids the independence with their learning and created a love for learning that I believe will be lifelong.  Our kids (alumni, current, and future students) still put their hand on our shoulder when they need our attention. We loved the community feel of the school!
